Fonts for Desktop Publishing

Copyright 1997-2002, Virginia Lawrence

Back when we were sending our files to the printing house as PostScript files, we usually limited ourselves to Adobe PostScript fonts with the Adobe Type Manager program. Now we can use any good font created for print use.

It's best to stick to commercial fonts such as Adobe fonts, TrueType fonts, or Emigre fonts. Although there are free fonts available all over the Web, those fonts will not necessarily print good-looking hard copy. If you use Adobe, TrueType or Emigre, you know that the final characters will print well.
