This site is run by the U.S. Department of Energy, Computer Incident Advisory Capability. Their job is computer security, so they investigate every computer virus and reputed computer virus. Due to the instantaneous transmission of Email, the Internet community also has instantaneous transmission of virus hoaxes. If you receive an Email message warning you about a particular virus, don't panic. It is probably a hoax. Go to the CIAC page to read their discussion of the "virus."
